Mr. Myers has over 45 years of engineering, environmental management and business experience in industry and consulting specializing in providing strategic and operational expertise to clients regarding the convergence of environmental performance and successful business management. Steve has expertise in environmental engineering, operations, regulatory compliance programs and auditing, due diligence, remediation and environmental risk management. Having previously been with GE, Earth Tech and Marsh, Steve focuses on value creation from sound environmental initiatives. Steve is a Certified Environmental Professional, a Certified Professional Environmental Auditor and a former licensed property and casualty insurance broker specializing in environmental insurance.   Steve has served on several Boards of professionally related organizations and is a frequent speaker and trainer on environmental risks and performance.

Project Experience

 Environmental Risk Management, Brownfields and Site Development
NAI PLatform Realty- TCE Contaminated Site, Albany, NY
Assisted a site owner/developer that had purchased a site with a TCE plume from a former dry cleaner. Developed a remedial strategy, obtained agency approval and implemented the in situ cleanup that will allow the owner to obtain new tenants and redevelop the site.
Former Rail Yard, New York
Assisting and advising a potential purchaser and developer of a former 100 year-old rail yard in developing a remediation strategy to address historical environmental impacts and implement a mixed use redevelopment of this valuable 80 acre parcel in a small riverfront town. Will use environmental insurance to protect the parties from unknown environmental perils during development. And consider entry into the NYS Brownfields program.
Brownfields Asset Management
Worked with a Fortune 10 company and a developer to devise an asset maximization strategy for surplus assets that could be redeveloped rather than just remediated.
Surplus Asset Risk Assessment, Boston, MA
Lead an environmental team that evaluated the environmental impacts and risks associated with the corporate complex and chemical facilities of Polaroid in anticipation of divestiture. The work resulted in the sale of the site for redevelopment and reuse as a commercial property
Environmental Insurance for Portfolios
Placed environmental insurance for the sale of a major portfolio of assets in multiple states to support the divestiture to a third party.
Pollution Legal Liability Insurance- Paracord Site, Johnson City, NY
Leader of brokerage team that placed environmental insurance for Stella Island Associates (Newman Development) for the redevelopment of the 100 year old former Endicott Johnson brownfields site. The placement of environmental insurance was key to the closure of the sale of the property.
Pollution Legal Liability Insurance- Union Ship Canal Project, Buffalo, NY
Leader of brokerage team that placed environmental insurance for Development Downtown, Inc. for the revitalization of the former Hanna Furnace site. This site was ranked in the top ten of sites in New York State identified for cleanup and redevelopment.
Site Remediation
 Former MGP Site Remediation-
Over the past 5 years Steve has provide Project Management and Client Representation for National Grid implementing remedial actions at numerous former Manufactured Gas Plant Sites throughout New York State including at Major remedial action in New York City.  National Grid has remediated MGP Sites under an Order with NYSDEC and Myers oversaw the efforts of the design engineer, the remediation contractor and subcontractor om behalf of National Grid to result in a successful project and to control costs.
Superfund Benchmarking and Risk Management- CONFIDENTIAL
Assisted a confidential industrial company working to educate stakeholders on the Superfund program nationally and to attempt to implement a reasonable and cost effective cleanup at a specific Superfund site. Activities included the interview and information gathering of other national Superfund sites, issues and remediation processes.  Eventual services will include the consideration of insurance to promote redevelopment.
Department of Defense, U.S. Navy, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Kittery, ME- Remediation
Project Director of a $5 million RCRA Corrective Action project at this naval shipyard. This project involved EPA Region I as well as the states of New Hampshire and Maine. The site had a long history as a naval shipyard, is located on a series of islands in a fast moving estuary and was one of the earliest RFI’s performed under this regulatory program.
Environmental Regulatory Compliance
Battery Recycling Plant- New York
Providing advisory services to this company in complying with a Consent Order and implementing a new secondary containment system necessary to receive a revised Part 373 hazardous waste permit.
SPCC Plans, NATIONAL Oil & Gas Transmission Co-    Southeast U.S.
Prepared SPCC plans for facilities from LA to VA for a major southeast pipeline company that was under consent order with EPA.
Healthcare and College Environmental Compliance Audits
Senior auditor of numerous healthcare and college facilities in USEPA Region 2 that had been targeted by USEPA for enforcement. Utilized USEPA’s self-audit policy as the initial step in an assessment of environmental exposures at the healthcare facilities and colleges.
Industrial Environmental Compliance Audit- WILSON GREATBACH
Lead auditor of the US operations of Wilson Greatbatch Technologies, a manufacturer of power supplies for implantable power supplies.
Industrial Environmental Compliance Audit- GENERAL ELECTRIC
Lead auditor of the Schenectady, NY manufacturing location of General Electric Company. This location was the largest GE worldwide housing multiple business lines on over 600 acres.
Fortune 10 Company- Auditor Training
Instructor in environmental auditor training for corporate environmental staff.
Heavy Equipment Apparatus Service Facility- Compliance Audit
Performed an environmental audit of the environmental management systems and regulatory compliance of several service shops that had been having compliance problems. This root cause analysis led to the implementation of new programs and improved performance.
GE Corp. Environmental Programs, Fairfield, CT- Audit Program
Mr. Myers was a member of the initial task force assigned to develop protocols to standardize off-site disposal of hazardous waste to minimize generator liability and cost. This initial effort lead to GE’s formalized environmental audit program.
Louis Hornick & Co., Haverstraw, NY- Env. Compliance Support
Environmental consultant for over 10 years providing technical and compliance guidance on all aspects of environment, health and safety issues. Projects included upgrading wastewater pretreatment prior to discharge to a POTW, UST removals, investigation of petroleum contamination, air permitting of a thermal oxidizer, airborne dust and contaminant evaluations, environmental and safety training of personnel and chemical use/impact guidance.
Environmental Due Diligence
 Business Bankruptcy and Sale- Environmental Due Diligence
Performed an evaluation of environmental liabilities associated with over 100 properties owned by a fuel oil distribution company in bankruptcy and being evaluated for purchase.
Acquisition Support- Fortune 10 Company- Due Diligence
Project Manager for the environmental due diligence of 45 operating facilities in four countries as part of a confidential business acquisition.
General Electric Aerospace, Nationwide- Due Diligence
Team leader for the environmental baseline audit performed of the GE Aerospace business at the time of its sale to Martin Marietta (Lockheed Martin). Mr. Myers led the team evaluating the NY and Florida facilities. The project audited over 45 facilities in six weeks and received a commendation from GE’s VP, Corp. Environmental Programs.
GE Capital Real Estate, Washington, DC- Due Diligence
Project Manager for the environmental assessment of the nationwide “Multiple Investor Fund” transaction with the Resolution Trust Corporation. The MIF portfolio included approximately 1,000 sites valued at $1 billion and was the largest transaction of its kind at the time.
Financial Services Company Acquisition- Due Diligence
Project Manager for the environmental evaluation of the real estate portfolio of
another financial services company which was purchased.  The portfolio covered over 28,000 properties.
Environmental Operations and Engineering
  GE- Waste Management Operations-
Manager of all wastewater treatment, hazardous waste treatment, storage and disposal, landfill operations and scrap operations at GE’s largest manufacturing facility.
Municipality- Water Supply System Engineering- Project Manager for the assessment, feasibility analysis and litigation support for a major water supply project.

Gloversville-Johnstown Wastewater Treatment Plant, Johnstown, NY- Wastewater Treatment Management 

Mr. Myers was a member of the Board of Directors of this municipal wastewater treatment plant for 14 years. During his tenure the plant implemented a $40 million upgrade and is the only plant in the U.S. to be funded by the construction grants program twice.
Broken Hill Properties (BHP), Australia- Environmental Management
Mr. Myers participated in the development and peer review of an evaluation of the use of a “shared service” organization for EHS functions within this worldwide company.
